Veterans touched by 'curbside' thank-you
Editor:

I want to give a personal thanks to the Robinson Daily News for its special edition honoring those who served in the paper this year.  I also wanted to tell about how another event here in Robinson had a personal impact on me this year.

Reader questions value of letters to the editor
Editor:

I read the Robinson Daily News daily. I enjoy the sections regarding what is happening in the small town I call home once again. I read with interest what the schools are doing, what LTC has going on and even the police report for the week. Then I get to the "letter to the editor section."

Vietnam vet's daughter appreciates tribute
Editor:

Kudos to the Robinson Daily News for their tribute to the veterans insert, It shocked and humbled my father and I to see how many veterans were included. For a small town paper to do such a kind thing was heartwarming.

Auxiliary police officer helps mom at parade
Editor:

At the Oblong parade last Saturday night, I had to pick up my daughter from one of the bands because she needed to run to the emergency room.  The auxiliary police officer who helped me was wonderful! He got me back to the band and helped us get out and going.

I was lucky enough to be selected to go on the Honor Flight from Springfield. On Sept. 15, I went to Springfield with my wife, Carolyn, and her daughter, Debbie, for a meal at the VFW to welcome the veterans.

Another friend gone from '66 class
I do not want to be an obituary writer, but I had not mentioned that in time apparently and the Class of 1966 has lost another fine person from its ranks.

No loans for liberal arts, lawyers
Editor:

I overheard a conversation recently about a young person who had graduated college then went to work at a fast food restaurant.  I asked what the degree was in and it was in an area for which there was little demand.

Heath enjoys celebration of heritage
On the heels of my family's visit to Robinson to join you in celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Heath Brothers Confectionery, and the iconic toffee bar it spawned, I am writing in recognition of the community's ongoing support.

ALS a worthy cause, but don't forget others
Editor:

I saw in a recent paper where the mayor had participated in an Ice Bucket Challenge to support ALS research.  I thought that was a very nice gesture on his part.

Regret always follows bad decisions
Editor:

It always bothers me when I read in a paper or see on TV people complaining about not being able to get ahead or how hard life is.
