Write-ins achieve 'worse than nothing'
Editor:

I read your front-page article on a person running a write-in campaign for governor of Illinois and was somewhat perturbed.  Not by the person or his views, which I believe were admirable, but by what write-in and third-party candidates normally accomplish.

Common Core moves into 'pure stupidity'
I read with shock the article in the May 15 paper about Common Core.  Place value?  Number disks?  Tape diagram?  Number bond?  Matching expression?  Partial products vertically?  All these terms being used to teach a second-grade student?

Young CEO entrepreneurs inspiring
I am still basking in the delight that was the Crawford County CEO Business Trade Show that was held Wednesday evening at the Robinson Community Center.

In regards to rules and regulations in cemetery care. Weekly mowing, or waiting until grass covers your feet when you walk through it.

Where are the 'non-temporary' jobs?
Editor:
