Open house for new Extension office Friday
Employees of the Crawford County University of Illinois Extension Office are excited to be fully moved into their new location at 216 S. Cross in Robinson and are inviting the community to drop in Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. for an open house.

Crawford County Sheriff William Rutan won a second four-year term in Tuesday's general election. Rutan, a Republican, held off Democrat challengers Floyd Brinkman, garnering 4,657 ballots to Brinkman's 2,292, or more than 67 percent of the vote.

County taking 1A could lead to improvements
The state is turning over Illinois Route 1A to Crawford County, but it will be months before the hand-off is complete.

It was announced recently that the Illinois Department of Transportation has offered to transfer control of the state highway from Trimble to Prison Road to the county highway department. It will also pay $1.8 million into the county's Motor Fuel Tax Fund in compensation for accepting the 4.4-mile stretch of road.

Seven make All-Conference volleyball teams
Just over a half-dozen volleyball players from Crawford County were recognized for their play on the court this past season by being named to their respective All-Conference teams recently.

Robinson had four players chosen to the All-Little Illini Conference teams, while Hutsonville-Palestine had two named to the All-Little Okaw Valley Southeast Division teams and Oblong had one representative.
